The Great White North

The Great White North is a photographic series created during a winter journey through Banff and Jasper in 2021. Comprising twelve images, the work explores the quiet beauty and elemental power of the Canadian winter landscape. Each photograph is imbued with the stillness, clarity, and stark atmosphere that define the season.
The title evokes the vast, snow-covered expanses of Canada’s northern wilderness, a landscape shaped by ice, silence, and extremes of climate. Through muted palettes, expansive skies, and terrain transformed by frost and snow, the series seeks to capture both the grandeur and solitude of winter in Canada.
At once documentary and deeply personal, The Great White North reflects my return home in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. These photographs are not merely records of place, but meditations on memory, distance, and belonging. Together, they portray a landscape suspended in stillness, where the familiar is rendered both timeless and profoundly moving.
